Is technology really so bad?

Todays blog post is going to focus mostly on a topic that has interested me for quite a while now since unit 3 started and that’s basically the concept that phones are bad, and the advance of technology and the wider range of user has gotten worse over time. I just want to say first that this topic has frustrated me for so long now since it seems older generations that seem to have a large distaste for technology yet can’t seem to stop reposting minion memes on their Facebook timelines in weird hours of the night. And while I do get where people are coming from with this sort of thing, I just think that full on hating technology for its advancement is downright unnecessary and somewhat biased.

Lets first start with the one thing that comes to mind when you think of technology, and that is cellphones, more specifically smart phones and how people are obsessed with them. But before we dig into that lets first find out why we’re so obsessed with them anyway? For starters with the rise of free wi-fi in most places and easy access to news via our devices and how we can quickly communicate with our loved ones you find it kind of hard to pull away from your phone. I think this is where the start of it all is, back in the day you could surf the web on your flip phone, but you run the risk of over stepping your bounds and your cellphone company will charge you 50 bucks over your regular bill for using the internet for 3 seconds. So when it came around that smart phones, ipods and even tablets could connect easily to wifi for free , of all thing, people were hooked.

I find that this model of giving everyone wifi has been a successful feat seeing as now that everyone can use the internet for free more people know about whats going around in the world which in my opinion is a good thing! There might be because if everyone knows whats going on no one will be in the dark about whats going on, and although this might be enough to brew even the worse in people to use the internet we can't just ignore all the good that technology has brought, communication, advancement in health computers and even gaming, bringing people from all cultures together and reuniting family even miles apart. I just find the argument that technology to be bad so frustrating even though everyone uses it religiously and all for their own reasons.
