Ethics on the interwebs

Theres a wide range on why we use the internet, millions of excuses and worthy reasons but for one thing that we all at least try to do is that we try to be a good person, though, people with morals try to be anyway, which other people find very hard to do when you meet all kinds of people online, like rude trolls and ignorant people. Which drags down people from being someone with morals to rather than, lash out now to the people really putting a notch down on them for making react in such a way. But thats not what i wanted to talk about, what I wanted to discuss was ethics on the internet, and how its used online and its effectiveness. My favorite example of ethics online is maybe when there are GoFundMe pages for those in need of emergency cash for their grandma's surgery (THAT AREN'T SCAMS) and how people come together to help out this person's grandma despite never ever meeting them in person, I find that a good example of ethics online, people being good to be good and help other people. It makes us feel good because we do good things which is why this example is so good. Another way though is through scams and how they are so effective in baiting good people into giving them attention or stealing their money in hopes that the person actually needs it. Thats how ethics can get so muddy online, since we can't see or know who is asking for help or spreading positivity its always a gamble in who you support because not even a week later the person you're supporting gets accused of being a world renowned internet conman and you fell for his trap, stuff like this makes it very hard for most people to be morally good online. This is all starting to sound like "Don't trust strangers online! They could be creepy stalkers!" but thats not the point I'm trying to make, what I'm trying to say is that theres a wide arrange of people on the internet and how we all mingle and wrangle around really makes it a hotbed for all walks of life to come around and take advantage of rather innocent people for their own gain. Being ethical and a decent person isn't that hard to do online but thats something wild to take in. And something hopefully we can adapt and overcome one day seeing as its something that is a lot to take in constantly.
