Engagement and Spreadability

For this blog post I want to add on to what we were talking about before earlier this week, like how engagement and spread ability go hand in hand, but this time I want to talk more about examples of it that we’ve seen before in our own lives and how we incorporate them or give into them every time we use social media.
The first example I want to provide is how we are always so critical of what other people think, and how they think of us; Half the reason why we use social media that lets people comment on your photos is because we want that interaction. We love to feed off of the attention people give us, well most people anyway, like for me I can’t go a day without wanting to talk to my friends or engage with a mutual on twitter because it makes me feel good and engaged with other people who don’t even live near me. Which is another reason why interaction is something else we should consider why social media is so successful, people love it! To hear other peoples opinions and see what everyone is making fun of and laughing at (like memes which I’m pretty sure counts as spread ability in a roundabout way).
Memes, get spread like wildfire, be it a funny picture with a cat or even mocking someone in a roundabout way, it'll spread, and it'll spread fast. Much faster in fact, than a signal boost for person in need, people are much more likely to click and favorite a picture of a cat doing something funny than help someone who needs medicine. But thats just how the internet works, theres good people and bad people all around it and even we are victims to this and it's not that hard to see why, we like to ignore the bad and just stay in our own area so to say. Things that make us laugh get around faster than that of something sad, unless you're into that, people also though, like looking like a good person when they retweet or repost things like a signal boost.
But this is the main focus of it all, people like memes, so they engage with them by reposting them which links to spreading them and getting the meme to a larger and more excited audience, spreading the meme to even more people and around the world. I feel that because of this buisnesses and corperations try really hard to grasp this model of memes spreadability by making jokes to try and relate to their audience so it'll spread their product, and while it might be bad they seem to have a concept on how these things work, which is what I find interesting, memes have both the ability of spreading far and engaging all kinds of people to it like a bee to a flower which is something we should look over more often because of how successful it is.
