Unit 2 Blog 2: Stop Posting Irrelevant Posts

A True Love Story

Hi everybody, it’s Keiman again back with another blog post. So, during this unit, we really started getting hugely into social media and how it is used to tell stories or people’s personal life that is going on.  Often, we tend to get caught up so much in it that I think we personally tell way too much of our personal life that we have going on and I really do not understand why. I started thinking of this topic when we first started discussing blog posts, and felt it was only right to talk about how often we see break ups on social media, and I am going to give my honest input on it. The reason I wanted to mention this is because it was apart of one of the discussions that we had in class with Dr. Vrooman, and he wasn’t pointing out marriage specifically, but he did talk about how people are just constantly telling their business. I want to know some of your thoughts on this topic as well, but how many times have we hopped on social media apps such as YouTube or TikTok or even Twitter, and were following some type of huge celebrity right? Now if you can think of anyone specifically, please let me know for sure, but an old couple that immediately came to mind from TikTok was Bryce Hall and Addison Rae. The reason that I considered them is because they were together for a good period after they both blew up all over social media, specifically starting with TikTok, which is how they even got together. Everybody always viewed them as this amazing power couple, even trying their hardest to be just like them (which is very cringe to me because you should always want to be yourself and be better than the person you look up to). With all that being said, I will openly admit that I used to be one of those people as well, because I was an original follower of Addison Rae because she was very chill and also a very uplifting person, and was really taking over the entire TikTok industry, which was good for her! But in all honesty, I think here getting a boyfriend at that early of the time was really the worst mistake possible, because Bryce Hall comes off as this really cool chill guy, but in all reality, he is not really much of a good guy. When they were going through hard times, he would constantly go on rants on social media about Addison, but not in a positive manner that was appropriate for not only their fans, but also for a woman like Addison Rae. It was very frustrating as a human and as a fan and supporter, because he would just constantly bash her throughout their time being together when stuff wasn’t going right in their relationship, which just wasn’t fair to Addison at all. But the one thing that Bryce Hall would fail to realize is that social media can be very toxic, and there were many fans and supporters of Addison calling him out and confronting him for his bad judgement against Addison, and I was all for it. He also failed to realize that nobody really gives a crap, because he is a sucky dude who only cares about himself and what makes him happy. My whole point of talking about this specific situation is because it was only about a year ago when this constantly developed, and it just annoys me knowing that he would keep posting about his relationship more than giving his supports what they desire the most, which was what made him well known and famous when blowing up on TikTok.
