Two days of in class speaking of social media ethics and still... nothing is set in stone in any degree at all of any framework to set upon guidelines for social media ethics. Is that a problem or is that normal? From what we as active social media utilizers in our given society believe, that is just how the way social media works; minimal ethics are recognized as we scroll through our feeds so heavily with minimal hesitation of so much blasphemy put upon our feeds. Is there any real Ethics that are followed?
To come to an understanding of any ethical decision making within social media functionalities, a social media user must understand what they are producing or presenting in terms of any of their content that is distributed to the social media audience in their hands. Literally in their hands, while they sit on the toilet with their phone. Was that an unethical statement? probably... Point being, the time that is taken up from an individual who views the content of the social media distributor, is a construct that is either utilized with good intention and just a waste of time, utilized with good intention and has meaningful time used, or just a complete waste of time all around. Though as we have said many times in our class that it is up to us as users of social media to be in control of our content in front of us, we cannot always dictate what is put in front of us and the efficiency of ethics is unbalanced more often than not. Ethics at that point do not seem to be in any relevance within the boundaries of social media. Furthermore, unless one is able to connect a true meaning to their lifestyle that is worth the time to share or lure in an audience with a consequential statement to be of true captivation, then Ethics in social media are not followed to its most efficient rate.
In the fixation of our social media ethics there are complications as to what is worth following the time construct as explained prior. How do we know what is worth our time and what is the Intel that is being shared with us besides what is given at first glance. The picture given below from David Beckham's Instagram which of course if you are a soccer lover then what is not to love about the guy right? But what is actually worth an individual's content intake whenever the genuineness of Beckham's message here is most likely not as real to his fans and followers as other posts and messages from himself may be.

Is that ethical? Maybe not. Is that a decision that must be made from the social media audience/user? Yes, but the ethics standpoint that are aligned within the structure that is needed to be followed is either displaced or just not recognized to be prevalent enough to note from our given society. Thus, ethics in social media must be founded within our careful ability to construct what we are supposed to make meaning of while in-taking our daily content... Think carefully, share even more carefully.
