So, at the beginning of searching for #MondayMotivation tweets, I wasn't sure what exactly I was looking for. I wanted to find a group of tweets that I could tie together and relate back to a topic from the class. After about 20 or 30 minutes of scrolling through a countless amount of tweets, I started to think less. I couldn't be picky or else I would never get started. So, the decision of which tweets I screenshotted was based on which ones I liked, and took interest in. If I liked a quote someone used, I screenshotted it. If someones tweet made me smile or gave me a bit of reflection or motivation, I screenshotted it. Because that's really what #MotivationMonday is about right? Others tweeting to a big community to get others motivated on the day out of the week that everyone dislikes the most? It was so cool to see so many people tweeting their bit to get others motivated. For example, when I came across Disney-Pixar's tweet, it instantly made me smile. The quote and the picture (from a movie that I really like a lot), go together so well and tell a story (Random thought: This talk about telling a story made me think of a song called Story of an Artist by Daniel Johnston. Yall should give it a listen). As does every single tweet on the day. I found it kind of weird that I felt a connection between myself, and the person that posted the tweet. It almost felt as if I kind of knew the person, and they were talking to me.

No all of this made me think of Carey's ritual model of communication that we discussed in chapter 3. "A ritual model presumes that the purpose of communication is to reinforce the social order and the “maintenance of society over time” (Humphreys 1429). I see these #MondayMotivation tweets as a contribution to society. It's other people posting out to others, attempting to inspire/motivate them. Just think about it. Happier and motivated people are more enjoyable people to be around than people who are negative and angry. Above, I have put a * next to tweets that mention happiness. The main idea of these happiness tweets suggest that happier people leads to more success. Not always success in terms of becoming rich or beating a level on a video game, but in having a better day. Imagine if everyone walking around were happy and friendly. This could be something that might change the world. Even though every single person on earth skipping around smiling and saying hi to everyone is pretty unrealistic because of so many outside factors and how humans are, it's a contribution. A contribution to motivating people to be happy every day and what that leads to.

Now, the rest of the tweets above are more focused on motivating others towards achieving a goal. This is a great way of helping to "maintain society over time". There is a theme throughout some of the tweets. That is to take risks, and to take the leap of faith towards your goal. One tweet that stood out to me a lot was one that I labeled with a *. These types of tweets are what may motivate people to try harder, take risks, and keep pushing. Something that could not only to help maintain society, but make it better. If people could be greatly motivated and influenced by a tweet like these, society would be much more successful. People wouldn't fear taking risks and possibly be more successful.

Overall, when I was scrolling through these #MondayMotivation tweets, the ritual model of communication is what came to mind. It's others posting to help contribute to society. It is an easy way of doing so. There is so much access to social media and is such a big part of society today. I think that this trend is something I can get behind and start to keep up with every week, as I would recommend for everyone reading. Put out some motivation for others when you are feeling happy or having a good day. Or scroll through on a bad day and get a little motivation from others who are willing to help!
