Ever really wonder when reaction videos came out? According
to Eric Skelton in The Fascinating Rise
of YouTube Music Reaction Videos, “This kind of thing isn’t completely
unheard of, though. Reaction videos first started gaining popularity on YouTube in 2007 when everyone started recording themselves
reacting to one of the internet’s first gross-out videos: 2 Girls 1 Cup. Ten
years later, a quick search of “reaction videos” brings up pages of videos that each
have millions of views.” Did you think reaction videos began so long ago? I did
not. I never realized how long reaction videos have been in the making, and how
they have come. Before they were only aimed at one audiences, but now they have
widened the spectrum and reached new levels of audiences. From little kids
watching reaction videos about toys to our older generation watching review videos,
“reaction” videos have spread across audiences and can now be reachable to any
group with the right video.
Nowadays, everything you do, you can record. You can easily
post a video of yourself reacting to some new hot video and get some kind of
views. People love watching them and associating them with the original video
helping receive some kind of traction for their views. One day you can just
post a video you find funny, go to bed then wake up a viral star. You posted
something that everyone loves and want their audience to see. Whether it be for
12 hours or forever, you have your moment of fame due to bringing the audience
relatable media. We spread the things share on our media page for being
relatable, funny, or interesting. You want to show other’s what you find
interesting and hopefully agree with your reaction. Once you have something
viral people tend to create reaction videos to show their initial response. Many
people find them intriguing due the different reactions you get. In my
experience, I love to watch reaction videos due to see the many responses from everyone.
Some can be offended, others defending the post, others laughing. While some may
be similar to each other, everyone is different in their own way and their
responses are unique.
Cardi B
- Be Careful [Official Video]- REACTION
TEENS REACT
TO DACA (ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION POLICY)
Personally, I love watching reaction videos. I find them very funny and entertaining since everyone responds differently. Usually people tend to post funny ones about music videos, such as ZIAS! bosts about Cardi B. On the other hand, sometimes people post serious ones, such as these teens reacting to DACA. From entertaining to informing, I believe these reaction videos are a great way to get people involved. They let people be intrigued with the topic, watch their reaction, and if they have not already, watch the original video. If you have the right following base, you can really reach many people and enlightened them on issues that need to be brought to light. Therefore, helping bring awareness to the issue and getting more people involved.
